Beef Chili

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 tbsp of J & Jay’s Olive oil

  • 1 yellow onion, diced

  • 1 lb 90% lean ground beef

  • 2 1/2 tbsp chili powder

  • 2 tbsp ground cumin

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp ground cayenne pepper

  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth

  • 1 (15 oz.) canned diced tomatoes

  • 1 (16 oz.) canned red kidney beans, drained

  • 1 (8 oz.) canned tomato sauce

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add 1 tbsp of J & Jay’s olive oil to a large soup pot and place it over medium-high heat for two minutes. Add the onion. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. Add the ground beef to the pot. Break it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook for 6-7 minutes, until the beef is browned, stirring occasionally.

  3. Add the chili powder, cumin, sugar, tomato paste, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and optional cayenne. Stir until well combined.

  4. Add the beef broth, diced tomatoes (and juice), drained beans, and tomato sauce. Add the other 2 tbsp of J & Jay’s olive oil. Stir well.

  5. Bring the liquid to a low boil. Then, reduce the heat to gently simmer the chili, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Remove the pot from the heat and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Top with sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese when serving,

TIPS

  • Add more infused or substitute regular olive oil based on desired dosage.

  • Add additional meat or vegetables as desired.

  • Serve with tortilla chips, garlic bread, rice, or eat it by itself.

  • Simmer longer to boost the flavours.
